So, I keep hearing different things about the Blog world. Some people say that it's a wonderful, welcoming community. Others say that bloggers are slow to warm up to newbies and tend to stick to those they know.
I must say, it scares the crap out of me. Will people read what I have to say? Will anyone care? Will I keep up with it? In any case, I decided to hurdle my fear and give it a shot.
I'm looking for a community that will offer me support and insight. Don't get me wrong; I have wonderful friends and family, but it seems like everyone gets so bogged down in their own life that no one has time anymore for "girl-talk." I miss girl-talk and I was hoping that you would like to join me for a chat. If not, I guess I'll talk to myself for a while and that might not be so bad. =)
So, my friend, what brought you to the blogging world? How do you feel about your part in it?
Okay. here goes. since you don't have a comment to this post. The blogging world? I got into it secondary to a friend. I blog for myself. Was going to stop following the first week (felt it was strictly self-involved). Have only three followers, but people (who do not follow) tell me they like reading my posts (threeboystwocatsadog.blogspot.com), feel that it is a good writing exercise, have received feedback from people outside the USA, have thought of quitting numerous times. Have ceased the 'diet blog' but continue on with my 'compendium' and the original one. Eventually, I'll quit. Nellie has quite a following going on her blog and is very involved in the 'blogging' community. Hope you return to blogging and good luck to you in your endeavors. :)..r.
ReplyDeleteRuth- Thanks for your thoughts. I haven't given up; I just haven't been near a computer much lately. Like you mentioned on one of your blogs, I don't expect it to become a huge blog with tons of followers. Instead, it's more for me. It's an exercise in holding myself accountable and an excercise in writing. I enjoy the comments, but I'm not going to hold my breath waiting for them. =) I do like reading your posts as well; you have an easy, witty style. I also like the thematic quotes you throw in. =)
